Ethernet port

hai please replay me extreamly fast,

I want to take a broad band connection.
I don’t have a Ethernet port on my mother board(Intel 865 perl)

Can i connect through USB port.my friends says that it decrease
the life of mother board.

I have a 56kbps internal modem too.
I want to take connection from BSNL.

Is it good to buy a modem myself or from BSNL?

    hello

    it will be better for to buy a ethernetcard and connec t ur broadband through it. USB port is not a good option since to need to configure the driver as well as there is a greater chance of motherboard damage.

    it is financially viable to opt for modem from bsnl..and request them to supply a router instead of a normal modem..it will make things easier if u want to connec t more than one system

    How much it’s for a ethernetcard,and what are the things to be noticed in the time of purchase.

    I dont want roter because it is for my home PC

    hello friend

    ethernet card is same thing that u call a network card.
    it cost from 250-350 range onwards…go for compex, d-link if u r a home user if else intel is the best one you can buy.
