I have a pc of intel pentium D 2.66, intel D101GGC,256mbddr ram,80 GB SATA harddisk.I tried to install fedora core 6 but failed. My hard disk is formatted with windows xp sp2. unpartitioned space is 8 mb. What should I do to install linux (any version).
I once heard that linux will not install on sata hard disks. Is that true??

Yes, SATA disks do give problems in installing linux. Latest versions of linux support SATA. Try it.

    Hai,
when I installed linux I first booted it up from the disk. Then selected install linux( I think so, coz I did this two or three months later). From that page It was not working. I restarted the system and repeated many times by trying various options on the first page. But it didn’t work. I tried fedora 6, mandriva, Opensuse10 etc. Everytime the same problem occured. Can you give instructions to install linux successfully??

I faced same problem with installation of fedora for my friend.
But I have no problem (i am owner of a Intel genuine pc with P4),he has a dual core PC.

The fact is that the installation is completed without any problem. But when we select fedora 6 from the boot time selection it stuk at a particular time ( i think it’s loading ssh0 or something related to ssh) .
